--the part about melting the butter and marshmallows goes pretty fast, and then it cools down pretty quickly. i recommend measuring-out the 6 cups of kice krispies (plus any additional ingredients) first, so you can just dump it all in the marshmallow mixture when the time is right.

--add pumpkin seeds and currants to one batch.
--add chocolate chips and chopped walnuts to another batch (the chocolate will melt as you mix it - don't freak out!)
--add some chunky peanut butter to the marshmallow mixture on the 3rd batch

--cut them all up and put them in some airtight storage containers, and take them camping for the weekend, and pass them out to anyone who trusts you enough to eat them.

--this recipe may not be suitable for folks with fibromyalgia.

I don't have recipes, but just to tantalize your tastebuds, here's what was on our 4/20 menu in the Seattle family:

* Creamy Potato Leek soup w/ Hemp Milk (mmmmmm... warm creamy vegan soup)
* Organic Nachos!!! With spicy black beans and sharp Cheddar
* The most delicious salad ever, with pretty much everything in the kitchen thrown in- pears, candied walnuts, a little cheese, cucumbers, shallots, homemade croutons and who knows what else... topped off with the most delicious dressing ever- pure love juice made from organic strawberries, olive oil, balsamic vinagrette, fresh garlic, salt and pepper, a little honey and a splash of (this is the secret ingredient) ROSEWATER!!! We were eating the dressing by the spoonful the next day and decided it was actually strawberry soup...
* Ooey gooey chocolate brownies
* Lavender Ice Cream (ohhhh you must try this if you come across it)

Yummmm... munchies. I love munchy feasts with good family! Hope your holiday was equally as scrumptious!!!

Please go to the original link here, and help keep this topic open. Please post a reply expressing your concern:

http://uspolitics.tribe.net/thread/7e39f67d-5273-441d-8420-d037264d3cb7

Marc Emery, a Canadian cannabis and libertarian activist, is considering a plea bargain to save his two friends from going to prison in the United States. In the following interview on CBC National News, Emery explains the situation.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4uc98rM33M

The plea bargain will most likely sentence Marc to a five-year prison term. In consideration of possible incarceration, Emery is “thinking of embarking on a Farewell Tour across Canada to speak to the people one last time.” The following is the proposed schedule:

St. John's, Newfoundland - Feb. 19
Halifax, Nova Scotia - Feb. 21
Moncton, New Brunswick - Feb. 22
Quebec City - Feb. 23
Montreal - Feb. 25
Ottawa - Feb. 26
Toronto - Feb. 27
London - Feb. 29
Sudbury - March 1
Winnipeg - March 3
Regina - March 4
Saskatoon - March 5
Calgary - March 6
Edmonton - March 7
Whitehorse - March 8
Kamloops - March 10
Victoria - March 12

Emery is also asking for help to raise funds for this tour. It’s estimated that the cost will be approximately $12,500. Once $3,000 is raised, the flights will be booked. The 16-city tour has one message, "Ending Prohibition in Our Time: My Crusade to Free The Cannabis Culture."

You can donate to the FAREWELL TOUR in the following ways:

1) PayPal bank transfer:

It’s difficult to explain what it means to witness our society condemn a human being for selling seeds to a plant. Maybe even having the need to explain such a horror, explains why we are at the tipping point, facing extinction due to our destruction of the environment. We, human beings, will never win a war against nature, and by waging it, we are destroying the ecosystem and condemning future generation to a miserable existence on a planet devoid of diverse life.

While we wait for Marc Emery’s future to be decided, we can enjoy and learn from the following documentaries, explaining in detail some of the benefits of Cannabis and the complete disaster known as the ‘War on Drugs’ (Please note that the first few minutes of the first movie are in Dutch, but the rest is in English).
lotsa tomatoes (good ones. i used tomatoes from my neighbor's garden, plus some good-looking heirlooms from the pcc)
juice of 1 lime
chop all these up in the food processor, being careful not to over-process! 5-6 quick hits on the cuisinart did it for me. depends on how finely you pre-chop the ingredients.

OK so I'm going to have to credit my roommate for creating this excellent stoner dish. We were very hung over from a long night of drinking and our morning bong session resulted in some unusual waffles.

You need:
*Typical grocery-store frozen waffles, blueberry is best in my oppinion but to each his own.
*Bacon. The real, thick sliced bacon that in no way resembles the cardboard texture of turkey bacon. 2 slices per waffle.
*Avocado. One per about 4 waffles.
*Maple syrup. If you don't have pure cane syrup you don't know what you're missin'.
*Just a little bit of butter or marg.

Cook the bacon, toast the waffles. Slice the avocado first in half, then into 1/4" thick slices while intact. Remove slices with a spoon. Put your syrup in a mug with some butter and microwave for 20 sec or so. Stir it up and maybe put back into the microwave for another couple secs. Just long enought to melt the butter.

Ready for this? Waffle, then syrup then bacon then syrup then avocado slices. Pure brilliance.

If I were you I would go to the store now because this is just as good at night as it is in the morning.

ok, they're empanadas. another one of my favorite recipies i brought back from argentina.

so on first thought, i didn't think empanadas would be a particularly appropriate stoner recipe, because of the complexity and time involved. but then i spent a whole weekend getting ripped and making batch after batch of these things, and it was a lot of fun! so this is the kind of stoner recipe you can take-on if you've got pretty much all day to devote to playing with dough, and squishing stuff with your hands, and sticking things in the fry daddy. plus, these are soooooo good! i mean, damn! and they freeze really well, so you can save some for later when you're really baked.

what you will need:
filling (see below)
dough (see below)
flat surface for rolling dough
deep fryer + vegetable oil
paper bags to collect excess oil

filling:
so empanadas are basically deep fried dough pockets, filled with the filling of your choice. the traditional "pino" mixture includes sauteed onions and ground beef, spiced with cumin salt and red pepper, plus hard-boiled egg chunks, raisins and olives. another popular filling included cheesy mashed potatoes. i experimented a little and found a great combination of pears, raisins, ricotta, cinnamon and dulce de leche (milk caramel). let your munchies guide you, to find the filling that's right for you. You'll need about 5 1/2 cups of filling for one batch of 8 empanadas.

dough:
in a big mixing bowl, stir-together 1 cup of hot (not boiling) water, 1 teaspoon of vinegar (pretty much any kind. i used white wine vinegar), 1 teaspoon of salt, and 3 tablespoons of melted butter. add 3 1/2 cups of flour and mix with your hands until the dough stops sticking, and you can shape it into a long cylinder without it sticking to everything.

assembly:
divide the cylinder of dough into 8 equal sections. one by one, flatten each dough ball into a circle, about 6-7 inches in diameter. i used the round vinegar bottle as a rolling pin. scoop about 2/3 cup of filling onto the circle of dough. carefully fold the dough in 1/2, pressing the edges together and sealing it shut.

some tips:
-try to get as much air out of the pocket as possible. this keeps the empanadas from floating to the top when you deep fry them.
-at the same time, be careful not to allow the filling to squish-out. if you've got taters squishing out the side, all of the filling will try to escape though this hole, and your oil will get dirty. for the same reason, avoid poking holes in the side of the empanada
-in argentina they would do this thingy where they rolled and pressed the edges of the empanadas, so it almost looked like there was this crescent of braided dough around the pocket. it takes a special roll-and-tuck-and-press motion that should come naturally to those familiar with how to roll a joint.

cook: traditionally, you take your rolled-up empanadas, and deep fry them in oil. this is delicious, but some people get freaked-out by the potential health risks of deep fried food, or the possibility of deep-frying some part of their body, or the fact that they don't own a fry daddy. i borrowed a neighbor's fry daddy, but i could have done just as well with a tall pot and a slotted spoon. i set the temperature to 420F

that said, for the health-conscious or burn-prone, you can also bake your empanadas. brush with milk on both sides, place on waxed paper or a greased cookie sheet, and bake at 420F for 20 minutes or so.

Grill: one steak, to perfection. i used a tender juicy ribeye, cut a little on the thin side, and cooked it medium-rare over charcoal.

Add: on top of the steak, pizza sauce, thinly-sliced ham, sauteed peppers and onions, olives - anything you would normally put on a pizza. Of course, smother everything in a mound of shredded cheese. i like a mix of mozzerella and cheddar.
So c'mon you stoney lurkers, post something!!! It doesn't have to be elaborate or earth-shattering, simple is fine. We have several variations of the waffle/peanut butter/ice cream scene so try something else. I think it's funny how so many of the existing recipes feature peanut butter, it makes me wonder if there is some chemical brain reaction going on when we're stoned that translates to peanut butter cravings.

The categories are:

easy light snacks
smoothies and other beverages
desserts

and if you can think of any other categories, please suggest them. I think i'm going to leave out complete meals because i think most people with the munchies go for snacky stuff and sweets anyway.

I know, it's kind of silly to put out a cookbook for only one kind of food, but it's also a simplified test run for using Lulu.com for publishing & selling e-books. I am asking everyone who has ever made some REALLY AMAZING mac & cheese to submit their favorite recipe(s). Please include specific brand names if you use commercially prepared foods in your recipe, and as close to approximate amounts of other ingredients. If you wish to have your name (or a pseudonym) included with the recipe, please add that to the submission and email it to madame7@gypsypalace.com or send me a message here on Tribe.

Everyone who submits a recipe that makes it into the book will receive a free digital copy when the book is ready. I may go ahead and have this printed and i will gladly send you one of those as well. Thank you for your help!

I am so bad at capturing my recipes, but i will try to remember how i made this. You need a food processor or at least a blender to make this. I have a little mini food processor thing and it works great.
this recipe makes one serving, so multiply it accordingly.
Oh, and before you start, go and run a bath with hot water, balth salts and bubbles. While the tub is filling, make the ice cream.

1/4 block tofu (or 1/2 package Mori-nu silken tofu, which would be ideal)
1/4-1/3 of a banana, broken into pieces and squished
2 Tablespoons maple syrup
1/2 packet of stevia(if you have it, though you could use Splenda, or whatever.)
1 Tablespoon smooth peanut butter
handful of good quality chocolate chips. Maybe it's about 1/4 of a bag.

puree tofu in processor until it's really super smooth. If you aren't using the silken tofu, you may have to add the maple syrup at the beginning to get it really smooth. Add banana and stevia or whatever else you're using--you could just use the maple syrup. Put the chocolate chips in a small microwave-safe bowl and cook until melted. Don't let the chocolate bubble, just melt it. While it's melting, add the peanut butter to the tofu mixture and blend. Smoke a bowl right about now. When the chocolate is melted, scrape it into the tofu mixture (still in the processor or blender) and blend until evenly mixed and very smooth. Add a dash of salt (trust me) and blend thoroughly. When it's ready it will be very thick, like you won't be able to pour it out. Test for sweetness and adjust if necessary. Scrape it out into the bowl that you melted the chocolate in, and put it in the freezer.

Then go get into the bath and lay all the way down so you are immersed and your hair is swishing around in the water. Forget about everything. la de da de da.........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

when you're done, put on your favorite pajamas. Go and fluff up the ice cream to mix the very cold parts with the not-so-cold parts, and freeze again. Put on some music or a movie.

The ice cream should be good by now. I hope it's good. I thought it was, because i've gone vegan and sugar-free but was craving ice cream tonight. What's a girl to do? This stuff is actually good for you!
in a large bowl, whisk together the flour, white sugar, baking powder and salt. cut the butter into small pieces and blend into the flour with a pastry cutter. the mixture should look like coarse crumbs. in a small measuring cup combine the whipping cream, beaten egg and vanilla, add this mixture to the flour mixture. stir until just combined. do not overmix

knead the dough gently on a lightly floured board. roll or pat the dough into a circle this is approx 7 inches around and about 1 an 1/2 inches thick. cut this circle into 8 triangular sections or you can cut out pieces with a cookie cutter. make a mixture of one beaten egg and 1 tbsp heavy cream. brush the scones with this mixture after you place them on the parchment lined cookie sheet

bake for about 15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out of the center of a scone clean. remove from oven and turn your broiler on high. sift powdered sugar or superfine sugar over the tops of the scones and place them under the broiler - do NOT leave the scones unattended at this point - watch them as they brown on top and remove them from the oven before they burn

transfer to wire rack to cool...

last night i made these and added 1/4 cup each of dried apricots and dried cranberries that i had soaked in sherry for at least 2 hours beforehand - you can add in anything (fruit, chocolate chips, nuts, whatever sounds good) into the dough when you turn it out to knead it.

This is a receipe passed on to me by my sister Colette, she discovered it while trying to make vegan desserts our family would enjoy at Thanksgiving. (It goes faster than ANY other pie - and is now requested regularly).
~oh and it's super simple and way too good~

Chocolate Tofu Pie
(vegan substitutions are equally as tasty!)
12 oz bag chocolate chips (any style based on preference)
1 package (12 oz) Mori-nu* tofu (silken firm or silken extra firm)
*any tofu brand will work, but mori-nu has a great smooth texture and can be kept unrefrigerated
1 graham cracker crust (pre made ones are perfect - try the individual sizes too!)
1 tsp vanilla extract

Melt chocolate chips in a "double boiler" until smooth and completely melted.
Meanwhile, blend tofu in a blender until a "yogurt-like" consistency, add vanilla at this time.
Incorporate the melted chocolate into the blending tofu until mixed thoroughly.
Pour into crust, and refrigerate until set. (if you can wait that long)

Really great options I've tried:
Banana: (1/2 a large banana added to tofu while mixing is a perfect flavor enhancer)
Mint: my favorite! (I Use the "UFO's" mint chocolate chips from Trader Joes)
Raspberries: (added to the tofu during mixing and added on top of the finished pie)
Peanut Butter: (added to the tofu during mixing, and spread on the crust before pouring)

Do a couple more bong hits while you're waiting for them to cook. It's a good idea to keep a bong in the kitchen at all times. When that's ready, spread peanut butter on the bottom waffle. This is the foundation. I use crunchy for better hold. Then ice cream on the second waffle. I prefer strawberry, but any kind will be good. Put the last waffle over that to make sort of a sandwich, and put syrup all over the top. Dig in.

--heat up some oil in a pan or wok, like you're going to stir-fry something. A high-heat oil like canola or safflower should do it.
--fry-up some frozen seasoned french fries. the kind you would usually bake on a sheet in the oven. watch out for splattering oil.
--when the fries start to get a little crispy and brown (or at least aren't frozen in the middle), spread them evenly across the bottom of the pan.
--lay slices of pepperoni over the whole thing, fully-covering the fries.
--sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over all of that.
--when the cheese starts to get melty and gooey, slide the whole mess onto a brown paper bag, or some paper towels (to drain some of the oil).
--slice it like a pizza, or pull it apart like cheezy fries. The amount of cheese you use will determine how solid and pizza-like your slices will be.

now that i've bailed on my low-carb diet, i am back to discovering new and exciting ways of consuming sugar. This one is definitely going into the cookbook. There is a regular version and a vegan option.

screamin' meemie sammiches
.......................................................
ice cream sandwiches (i think plain vanilla is best but you could try a chocolate one)
Magic Shell chocolate sauce
creamy peanut butter
banana slices

Unwrap an ice cream sandwich (a well-frozen one---it must be firm) and slice it in half along the middle like you're fileting it, so that you end up with two halves with chocolate cake part on the bottom and vanilla ice cream on the top. You know, like you would take apart a peanut butter and jelly sandwich by peeling the two pieces of bread apart. Squirt some Magic Shell on each half onto the ice cream and spread it with a knife before it hardens, coating the entire surface of the ice cream. Once it has hardened, spread a thin layer of peanut butter on each half and then layer a few banana slices on one half. Put the sandwich back together and enjoy. It's amazing!!! Feel the texture of the chewy-crunchy magic shell in the midst of the pillowy, gooey ice cream sandwich. Have another. Go ahead, you've got a whole box of them.

The vegan version would use Tofutti Cuties which, IMO, are better than regular ghetto ice cream sandwiches anyway. Magic Shell has milk in it so if you are a strict vegan but still want to shoot for the texture of Magic Shell, you will have to melt some semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate chips. You won't need many, just a handful in a mug and put it in the microwave on low or medium for maybe 30 seconds. Spread it on the ice cream as above and follow the rest of the recipe.

Another variation would be to skip the peanut butter and add sliced strawberries or fresh raspberries, or maybe even some jam would be good. If you can think of other yummy variations, feel free to suggest them. Maybe it would be good with some nuts.

i'm so glad i came back to my carbs.
Zheng Chi or "Righteous Chi" is the Chi that is released to eliminate PAIN through the needles of Chinese Acupuncture, an effort that seems to be so much a regular part of my life, as I suffer with my Fibromyalgia flare ups! An entire team of doctors regularly helps me keep a better focus on quality of life, and to minimize the severe pain which plagues me. Medical marijuana is only one of the components for relief.

i've just rediscovered an old favorite which is very simple and contains ingredients that many of us are likely to have on hand. i don't have a name for it yet. Here it is:

2 slices of bread, any bread. (thickly-sliced Como or Russian Rye ROCKS)
1 medium tomato (Roma works best as it's less goopy, but whatever...)
1 avocado
butter, margarine or Ghee
nutritional yeast, seasoned salt, cayenne or black pepper

Toast the bread in the toaster and slather with the fat of your choice. If you have a toaster oven, it's a special treat to butter the bread first and then broil it (but don't catch your kitchen on fire!)

Cut the toast diagonally and arrange on a plate. Slice tomato and avocado thinly. Try using a bread knife to cut the tomato, unless you've got a knife sharpener and a good slicing knife. If you cut the tomato in half first and then slice each half, it is not only easier, but fits better on the toast. I cut the avocado in quarters, remove the skin and slice it flat-side down on the cutting board. Some people slice it up right in its skin and squish it out. This works (especially while camping) but i like mine to look pretty.

Lay the tomato slices onto the toast. Sprinkle with cayenne if you're into that sort of thing. Then lay the avocado slices on and sprinkle with nutritional yeast and your favorite salt concoction. I've used garlic salt and that's good, but now i have this dollar-store brand ghetto-ass Crab seasoning salt that just happens to be MSG-free. ( a miracle!). Gomasio, onion salt, Jane's, whatever you like. Plain old salt is fine too, or none at all. I personally like avocados with salt.

That's it! i think someone else may have posted a similar recipe but this is my own. I used to eat this every day when i worked at the old Gravity Bar downtown. That's how i learned to use the Como bread, load it up with soy margarine and pop it in the broiler. Como bread has lots of big holes to hold the butter.

One of my favorite Chinese Restaurants serves this. I learned how to make it because the restaurant is like 35 mins out of town.

1/4 lb. meat of choice (steak, chix, pork, tofu, shrimp) cut into small pieces
cooking oil of your choice (peanut is probably best, but any will do)
1 small can of bamboo shoots drained and rinsed
1 pkg sliced button mushrooms
2 1 lb bags hydroponic bean sprouts
Teryaki Sauce
1 small/medium onion (brown or sweet)
1 crown of broccoli rinsed and chopped

Marinate meat in teryaki (any kind, but I prefer the thin sauce like Kikoman) for approx 20-30 mins (before you start ripping the bong LOL) Not too much sauce, dont completely drench it.
Cut onion into eighths (we all not eighths right?)
Rinse and chop your broccoli.
Drain and rinse your bamboo

After meat has marinated, heat your pan to a high heat w/ a little bit of oil, enough to cover the bottom.
Also add the onions.
Let cook until pink is almost gone from meat (chix and pork cook longer, ofcourse)
Add bamboo , broccoli and mushrooms and add salt liberally to sweat the mushrooms quicker. Cook this combo untill the mushrooms are about halfway done.
Add both bags of hydroponic bean sprouts, salt and cover.
At any time during the cooking process you can add a few more shakes of Teryaki.

* If you use tofu, I suggest firm and would add it at the begininng so you can toast it a little*
* If you use shrimp, add it towards the end and only cook it until it turns pink. If you over cook shrimp it get tough*

Dish is ready when bean sprouts are translucent. There should be lots of juices from the water from the veggies and the teryaki. DONT DRAIN, dish will dry out it you have to refigerate and re-heat.

I always add a little bit of red chili sauce to mine as I like it hot. Season to taste.

If you try it, I really hope you enjot it as much as I do. Its a very healthy dish, low fat, low carb. No fat if you use tofu or no meat at all.

'Time 4 Hemp' is the name of the television series I created in the early 1990's. You can locate the web site at:
http://www.Time4Hemp.com

There you will find the list of guests who appeared on the series when it was first produced includes: Willie Nelson, Tim Leary, Kevin Zeese, and all the founders of the American Hemp Movement.

I am one of 17 people who, in 1991, wrote the California Hemp Initiative (CHI) allowing people who need the use of hemp (slang termed: marijuana) for medical reasons to grow 6 plants or less in their own homes with out fear of prosecution.

The 17 of us who wrote this initiative then recruited an army of volunteers to gather enough signatures to get the CHI onto the voting ballot in 1992. California voters overwhelmingly supported CHI and it became state law shortly there after. I created 'Time 4 Hemp' as a way to bring attention to the CHI.

A copy of the CHI can be reviewed on the web site as can free short video downloads from each interview. You can also freely download the complete audio of each interview should you like. You can also download 4 video clips from my involvement in the Smoked Marijuana Study at UCLA funded by the US government if you have time for a quick chuckle. I am the only person in the world ever to be filmed in a study of that nature.

The 'Time 4 Hemp' weekly WebCast will broadcast LIVE, at High Noon once a week through the internet. Each program will then be edited and archived so anyone wanting to listen to it - at anytime - can do so.

We intend to rock the world (as always) with the message of:
"Hemp for Paper, Fiber, Fuel and Medication".

With that said, I'd like to invite you to listen in and be an ACTIVE AUDIENCE. The whole idea of broadcasting live is to give people around the world the chance to ask questions of each guest. Either through telephone (we'll have an 800 number) or IM.

I'll be posting up-dates about the series through my Time_4_Hemp tribe site.

If you'd like to be notified by e-mail of the first live broadcast, let me know.

Okay so i made this up one midnight while under the influence lol...
just found the ingredients laying around...

3 eggs

Scramble the eggs, and prepare a hot pan greased preferrably with margerine...make the pan is hot...now to your egg mixture (to your taste) i found a long thing of salami and i sliced off about 3 thing pieces about 1/4 of an inch thick, and diced them and threw it into the egg mix...than i found a 1 and a half piece of bacon in the fridge and i threw it in the microwave for about 30 seconds till its was warm and chop that up in failry small pieces(again to your likeing) and mixed it with the egg and put sum of the grease of the bacon too(gives it extra smokey flavor)...now in your shallow pan throw in the whole mixture..while its cooking and gets firm around the edges (middle will stay uncooked on top) while thats going get 2 slices of (preferabbly yellow) cheese and throw them on top of the egg. now give the egg a fold in half with a spatula...and continue to cook for another minute folded, than start scrambling the egg up. once the eggs are cooked u will have what i invited "Meaty Eggs"

Ok, this is my secret recipe that I've perfected over the last 10 years... you can use it, J, but only if you call it by its proper name =)

It takes a little while to prepare, but if you make a big batch you will have lots of ooey gooey deliciousness left over for latenight munchies-- it is actually better the next day!

Oh, and Gruyere is a stinky cheese and normally I hate stinky cheese but trust me on this one-- even if you have to hold your nose while you grate it, you will thank me later =)

Also, this is definitely not a vegan recipe, but I have substituted Earth Balance for butter and veggie broth for chicken broth before and it works quite nicely... not quite as rich but still equally delicious!

4 T butter
1 cup chopped Onion
2 cloves Garlic, minced
2 1/2 cups chicken stock
2 cups orzo pasta, uncooked (make sure you get ORZO- it looks like rice but its actually pasta)
1/2 cup Gruyere cheese, shredded
2 T. chopped fresh chives (fresh is definitely best, but dried will work too)
salt and pepper to taste

Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add onion and cook until soft, but not browned, about 6 minutes. Add garlic and cook 2 minutes more. Meanwhile, in a medium pan, heat the broth to boiling. Add orzo to onion and garlic in the skillet. Stir in the hot broth and bring to a boil. Cover and remove from heat. Let stand, without removing the cover (oooh its tempting, I know, but DON'T DO IT!), until all liquid is absorbed, about 25 minutes. Stir in the gruyere until melted; add chives and season with salt and pepper. The dish will have a creamy consistency. Serve hot and enjoy the gooey deliciousness!

basically, you take your favorite chocolate pudding mix, make it according to the recipe and mix it with your favorite peanut butter. Put a lump of this divine mixture between two squares of graham crackers and freeze... oooh a frozen sweet fix! We used to freeze them in little sandwich bags, with two sammiches per bag so you can grab a lil' baggie and there's your individual serving (to ensure you don't eat the whole lot of 'em in one sitting =) There's a lot of room for experimentation here, too... you could add some chocolate chips or coconut flakes or banana slices or even a touch of nutella. the possibilities are endless!

BUT, i have not lost my stoney palate. Here is a ridiculous treat that can often be made without going to the store--you just might have these ingredients on hand. It can also be made vegan, if you buy vegan waffles and whipped cream.

2 frozen waffles
about 5-6 small strawberries, or 1 banana, or both
chocolate syrup
whipped cream of your choice
if you really want to go off, some chocolate chips or chocolate bar pieces
i happened to have raspberry syrup, the kind you see at coffee stands
maple syrup or equivalent (i highly recommend real maple)

Toast the waffles and butter them. While they are toasting you can slice the strawberries. Frozen ones are ok, just thaw them first, but fresh is best. Slice the banana, or leave it out if you want. This dessert is made like a strawberry shortcake. Start with a waffle, cover it with sliced fruit, then whipped cream, a drizzle of chocolate syrup, the other waffle, repeat, then drizzle with raspberry or maple syrup. Top with chocolate chips or shavings. It looks huge on the plate, but it will be gone in about 45 seconds.

i am definitely going to have a section for beverages; hot, cold and dessert-like. one thing i am going to include is Yerba Mate tea. it's such a wonderful complement to a stoney state of mind, especially in te late morning. i find Mate (pronounced Mah-Tay) to be a mental stimulant as well as a creative aid. it gives me energy but not like coffee which depletes energy later on through leaching vitamins and minerals and dehydrating the body. on Saturday morning i get up slowly, put on some Dub, smoke a bowl, make a French Press of Yerba Mate and cruise the net...or get *really* into making Lego stuff with my son. Stoney Lego adventures....that's one of the best parts of being a parent.

but back to the drinks...that Hot Cocoa recipe inspired me to think of more drink ideas. i think SeeThruSound mentioned a smoothie-type frozen thing a while back. anyone have other tea recipes? i make my own Chai and Yogi Tea which takes a long time but if you start it in the morning, you can drink it later on and then keep the rest in the fridge to heat up at other times. unfortunately i have never written down my Chai recipe--it changes all the time. Here are some of the things i put in:

Cinnamon
Cardamom
Fennel Seed
Cloves
Orange Peel
Black Pepper (optional)
Black Tea
Honey
Soy Milk (Silk Creamer is quite good in Chai)

It cooks faster if you crack up all the spices or coarsely grind them in a coffee grinder. Once i accidentally dumped way too many cloves in and ruined the batch--cloves must be used sparingly. They are intense and have a high oil content & can actually make you sick if you overdo it. Many Chai recipes do not include the Fennel Seed and i think that it's essential--not only does Fennel make it taste smoother, it enhances the tummy-soothing properties of Chai. Fennel and Cardamom both help expel gas and ease digestion. That's why Indian Restaurants have candied Fennel seeds for you as you leave.

Anyway the basic procedure that i use is to get a giant pot of fresh (not tap) water boiling--i start with about 1-2 gallons depending on how much i want to end up with. It will reduce down about 1/2 so start with twice as much water as you want Chai. The reason for reducing it is to concentrate the spices in a smaller quantity of water so when you add the milk, it's not too diluted and thin-tasting. For a 2 gallon batch i would use a good handful of Cinnamon sticks--like if you held them as a bundle (or Fag, as is the proper word for a bundle of sticks) it would be about 3 inches in diameter. It's definitely better to err on the side of too much spice rather than not enough, as you can always dilute it with water or milk later. Cardamom comes in whole green pods and also Decorticated seed which just means that the husks have been removed. i use the whole pods but i think the only real advantage is that it's easier to strain out large things than small seeds. If you wanted to make a batch faster, you might use just the Cardamom seed and crack them open with a mortar and pestle. By the way, the mortar and pestle is an essential item in my kitchen. I would use maybe 1/2 cup of Cardamom, and 1/3 cup of Fennel seed, then just a Tablespoon of whole cloves. Orange Peel is optional and can be substituted with dried apple or i've heard of some people putting some chopped pear in there. I like the flavor of the Orange Peel--dried is best. Black Pepper is for spiciness and is most common in Yogi Tea recipes for its Ayurvedic qualities. Yogi Tea is almost the same thing as Chai but without the Black Tea. Use only a teaspoon of black peppercorns so you don't overpower the batch, or leave it out if you don't want that warm flavor in the Chai. So anyway, i am just making this recipe up on the fly and these amounts may not be just right--you will have to experiment and if your batch starts to simmer and you think it's not strong enough, add some more spices. Just remember that by leaving the lid off the pot, the Chai will reduce. You should bring the water to boil and then reduce to medium high to simmer with the herbs. After it cooks for like 1/2 hour with a somewhat vigorous bubble/simmer, you can reduce the heat to medium. The smell will fill the house with the lid off and that's just lovely. You can put the lid on if you think it's not done but too much water has evaporated out. I have simmered my Chai for hours on low before adding the black tea. You don't want to add the black tea until the end because the tannins will make the Chai bitter. Use a good quality organic Darjeeling if you have it, though Lipton tea bags are ok too. I generally use loose tea since the whole batch has to be strained anyway. Some people like to leave the black tea out, keep their Chai concentrate in the fridge and heat it in the microwave when they want a cup--then a tea bag can be added to the very hot Chai and then your favorite milk. That way you have decaf Chai in case you want that late at night, and the option to gas up with the tea bag.

Honey is the preferred sweetener, IMO. You can add the honey after the spices and black tea have been strained out, or leave it unsweetened so each portion can be sweetened to taste. if you are serving it right away, strain it through a fine colander or scoop the stuff out with whatever you can find to get the job done, add the honey and the milk and serve. Maple syrup can be used, or even Brown Rice syrup, Barley Malt or whatever. I think a lot of Indian restaurants just use white sugar but i think that's booty. I wonder what they use in India--anyone know?

i have heard that in India they make pots of Chai right on the street and just keep them simmering all day, adding more spices and liquid as they sell it. that way it is perpetually evolving and i love that idea. Some of my friends throw some mushrooms in the pot and make a night of it. I think the spices help with some of the tummy troubles normally associated with entheogenic fungus. you have to be careful about the Chai at the bottom of this pot, as it will be way stronger than the first dozen cups.

So that's Chai for ya.

how about some recipes that actually have marijuanna in them? oh, the gastrinomical possibilities of pot use!

a basic butter recipe:
substitute the animal fat or vegetable oil of your choice.
i'm gonna take a vague stance on quantity and dosage and go with a ratio of a pound (2 cups) of butter for an ounce of shake (dry, leafy weed that's not too good for smoking). maybe 20-40 servings, depending on the type of weed, the kind of recipe, the phase of the moon, or the person eating it.

melt the butter in a saucepot that you don't mind scrubbing the hell out of later. do this on the lowest setting. try to keep the temperature as close to the point where the butter starts to bubble, without actually bubbling. when the butter separates into clear liquid and white fats, skim the fats.

add the shake, finely crumbled, and simmer for 1-2 hours. stir periodically, and check to make sure the butter doesn't start to bubble. the oils from the marijuana slowly mingle with the oils from the cow, and they make groovy moosic together.

whether you strain the butter of plant matter depends on how finely the shake is crumbled, and what you're using it for. i'd leave it in for zucchini bread, pesto or a nutty brownie recipe, but leave it out for snickerdoodles, salt taffy or hot buttered rum.
